Game information

WorldBox is a sandbox simulation game where the player creates and manages a living world. The game allows the player to place terrain, creatures, and civilizations onto a map and observe how they develop over time. Instead of following a linear story, the experience focuses on experimentation and observation. Players act as a creator who can influence the environment using various tools. Mountains, forests, rivers, and entire continents can be formed on the map, while different species begin building settlements and interacting with the world.

Creating The World Environment

At the beginning of a session, the player generates a new map or builds one from scratch. Terrain tools allow the placement of land, water, and natural resources. These elements affect how civilizations develop later in the simulation. For example, fertile land supports farming, while mountains create natural barriers between regions.

The player can also populate the world with different species. Humans, elves, dwarves, and orcs can establish villages and expand their territories. Each group begins building houses, gathering resources, and forming small communities that gradually grow into larger kingdoms.

Tools And Player Actions

WorldBox provides a wide range of tools that allow the player to influence the simulation. Some tools help civilizations grow, while others introduce disasters or unusual events that change the balance of the world.

Common player actions include:

  • creating land, water, and natural landscapes
  • placing creatures and civilizations on the map
  • giving resources that help settlements develop
  • triggering disasters such as fires or meteors
  • observing how kingdoms expand and interact

These tools allow the player to experiment with different scenarios and observe how the world changes.

Development Of Civilizations

As time passes in the simulation, villages expand and become organized kingdoms. Civilizations build roads, construct buildings, and explore nearby areas. Different kingdoms may compete for territory or form temporary alliances depending on the situation.

Wars sometimes occur when neighboring kingdoms attempt to expand their borders. Armies are formed automatically by the civilizations, and battles take place across the map. The outcome of these conflicts affects how territories change over time.
